How Supercomputing Helped Keep a U.S. Tire Company Rolling
Wednesday, February 24, 2010
Building 3 Auditorium - 11:00 AM
(Coffee at 10:30 AM)
At a challenging time in Goodyear's fortunes, supercomputing and simulation-based engineering design were used to create award-winning, innovative new products that helped increase sales, boost revenues, and restore dealer confidence. Today's presentation reveals how Goodyear made the switch from prototype-based to simulation-based new product development, how new analysis tools resulted from an unusual technical partnership, and how supercomputing made a difference. Finally, the importance of similar partnerships will be related to U.S. industrial competitiveness.
Loren K. Miller is founder of DataMetric Innovations, where he focuses on creating competitive advantage through simulation-based engineering & science and industry-national laboratory collaboration. While at Goodyear, he initiated and led the development of a parametric design system, the partnership with Sandia, simulation-based product development, and Linux cluster supercomputing. Miller has a MS in Physics from the University of Akron. Contact him at loren.miller@mac.com
